Writing a resume may seem to be so easy.  It is simply enumerating your skills and the work experiences you've had in the past.

However, do you know that if you give a little extra effort, you can create a resume that would stand out from several applications received by HR professionals and hiring managers? In a matter of 10-30 seconds, your best written resume could serve as your winning ticket for a job interview.

Here are 7 steps to write an effective resume.

1.  List down your personal and employment information, such as:

your jobs in the past, employment dates, and job description
skills you have gained
quantifiable accomplishments
honors and awards you have received
special projects you have handled
your educational achievement
your contact information, especially an email address and a contact number

Keep this list updated so that you can always use this as reference whenever you need to make a resume or write an application letter.

UP College Admission Test (UPCAT) for School Year 2011-2012 to be held on August 7-8, 2010




University of the Philippines (UP) is the only national university in the country.  To date, it has seven constituent universities located in twelve campuses throughout the Philippine archipelago.

  • UP Diliman (with an extension program in Pampanga)

  • UP Manila
  • UP Visayas (Iloilo, Cebu/ Miagao, and Tacloban)
  • UP Mindanao
  • UP Open University (has its own admission test)

Many UP graduates have become prominent figures in the fields of politics and governance, engineering, education, literature, agriculture, medicine, the sciences, and the arts.  That is why thousands are aspiring to be admitted into this very prestigious educational institution.  Last year, over 67,000 students took the test.  However, to maintain the university’s high standard of education and for more efficient utilization of its resources, limited slots are given to freshmen for admission to each campus and its various degree programs.

For the School Year 2011-2012, the University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT 2011) will be held on August 7 and August 8, 2010.

Basically, we look for jobs if we do not have one.

However, job seeking is not only for those who are unemployed. Many individuals also look for new jobs for better employment situation.

Here are some of the reasons why you would probably consider looking for new employment or why you would want to leave your current job:

Young Filipino Singer Luigi Seno Shines in America's Got Talent 2010


A young Filipino singer is making his own mark in the new season of America's Got Talent. During the talent show's final auditions, 20-year old Luigi Seno impressed the judges and the audience with his cool acoustic rendition of Maroon 5's "Sunday Morning" while he played his guitar. The seemingly shy crooner originally came from Cebu. His family migrated to Southern California USA in 2001. Luigi is currently working for a shipping company while studying music.

Charice Pempengco Hailed For Her Beautiful Rendition of the Philippine National Anthem


Congratulations to Charice Pempengco for her beautiful rendition of Lupang Hinirang during the inauguration of President Noynoy Aquino at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila last June 30, 2010.

It was reported that the National Historical Insitute was also pleased with the performance of the young international singer. Charice, under the guidance of Maestro Ryan Cayabyab, sang the Philippine National Anthem as close to the original version as possible.
